Here are some great resources to teach the Declaration of Independence

The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History has a fabulous resource for teachers, Tim Bailey’s Teaching Unit on the Declaration of Independence

There is also an excellent PowerPoint created by educator Carl Ackerman of Constitution High School in Philadelphia that supplements Tim Bailey’s lesson.  (Many of Carl’s students submitted stirring personal declarations for our MyDeclaration component of this project.)
