You can now peruse on Substack the first chapter of Section II of ‘SPIRIT OF ’76 CAFE: A Global Revolutionary Journey to Reclaim Our Democracy’, featuring a fascinating Zoom exchange mostly with participants who are citizens of South Africa.
The Spirit of ’76 Café dialogue project and book-in-the-making – we’ll publish all the combined chapters as a means to raise funds at this critical time for our nonprofit — is one of three ‘branches’ of our one-of-a-kin DeclarationProject.org, inspired by the original 1776 push for liberty and self-governance, this initiative acts as a traveling and virtual “think space”. I gather people in both iconic historical sites and everyday public squares to engage in philosophical, Socratic-style dialogues. Participants are challenged to identify modern grievances and formulate a “roadmap” for active civic involvement rather than just debating problems.
The Declaration Project — an initiative by DemocracyCafe.org — is a comprehensive archive dedicated to documenting the history of freedom. It features historic declarations of independence and kindred manifestos from around the globe, alongside a portal called “MyDeclaration” — https://declarationproject.org/?page_id=146 — where individuals or groups are invited and encouraged to publish their own visions of liberty.
