America is the melting pot of the world but Americans today can agree accepting diversity is a difficult problem to face. It is not hard to see that there is a lack of welcoming different cultures, races, and sexes. After the attacks on the World Trade Towers on 9/11, some citizens of America became frightened of the religion the terrorist held. In the chaos after the attacks in order to protect themselves those citizens decided all Muslims and cultures different from our own are terrorists. We American students are annoyed that we and our fellow friends and family are being stereotyped and degraded by our gender and race.  We are not terrible people because of the gender we are attracted to, or the color of our skin.  People are people no matter what we appear as or how we feel. Respecting others as they are is the foundation of  diversity.  We Americans need to adapt to new perspectives because we are always changing.

Some solutions for the problem of lack of accepting diversity in America would include not stereotyping others. People need to accept diverse cultures because just because someone has a different religion than you does not make them a terrorist. A society with many different individuals is interesting and intelligent. It makes America unique from other countries because America strives to accept all and treat everyone with respect.
